Watching some talkshows on YouTube, I learnt a lot of Enric Corbera and his own way of understanding people's problems and how awareness can change lives. Corbera loves Carl Jung's theory of the unconscious mind; I do too. I believe that it is fascinating. This theory states that there is an unconscious aspect of the personality that the conscious ego does not identify in itself. It would be like the unknown dark side of the personality. It is called the shadow. When we are able to integrate this shadow into the personality, we become stronger and wider than before.
According to Enric Corbera, any disease, from the smallest to the biggest, is the shadow manifested as a symptom in the body. In other words, it is an unresolved emotional problem manifested in the body. When we become aware of what is producing the emotional conflict; the symptom will disappear. We might need medication to fight against the disease; but, treatment will be totally effective.
Thinking of diseases and integration of the shadow, I saw a colorful book on a small table from a hall of a big building. I picked it up. It was poetry and I read a bunch of poems. Although, they were written on a very simple words, they were very intense. The writer was a child with a rare and incurable disease; a sort of a muscular dystrophy. I found a deep wisdom in such a young human being. In one of the poems, the writer sated his goal; it was to become a Peacemaker. Reading one of his poems, I felt a great peace in my heart. I thought that if everyone feels the same, that child had achieved his goal.
Moreover, in my opinion, that child had accomplished something else very important; he integrated his shadow. He was living his disease as part of his live with no rejection at all. He accepted it. In fact, the shadow gave him strength and creativity and made his short life very intense.
May be many of us can be thankful to him for a moment of peace in our hearts. I am thankful for that moment.
Mattie J. Thank you!
Bellow, there is a heart-song from his book. I hope you feel peace. I also learnt more about goals.
