THE DOTS WILL CONECT DOWN TO THE ROAD

Steve Jobs movie is a top released movie in 2015. A few years ago when I came to the United States, I did not speak English at all. In my English school, our teacher showed us a video where Steve Jobs was delivering a speech at Stanford University. First, I was surprised to know that this man was an icon to the American society. Second, his speech seemed sad and weird to me and also to many other international students. After some years of being immersed in the American culture, I understand Steve Jobs' speech much better. My understanding is not only about words, but it also is about its deep meaning. So, because of the movie, I have recently reviewed the Stanford speech and right now I am totally impressed.

In the first part of his speech, Steve Jobs talks about past, present and future. There are two words in his speech that strongly resonate in my mind. These two words are trust and believe.

First of all, Steve Jobs says that we have to trust. Trust in God, our instinct, destiny, karma, whatever. TRUST that what happened in our past will connect our future. "Trust the dots will connect your future" he says. "You can only connect them looking forwards".Second, Steve Jobs says that we have to BELIEVE that "the dots will connect down to the road" and this belief "will give you confidence to follow your heart".

I thought for a moment in his words. Trusting and believing are two words that lead us to overcome obstacles and achieve our goals. Jobs doesn't say that we have to believe in something and hope that something will happen in the future. Steve Jobs says that we have to trust on something that makes us to connect the dots, the events of our past. And then, we have to believe that one day looking backwards, we will be able to connect these dots. This belief will empower us.

This impressive attitude gives confidence, a lot of confidence because our journeys are unique. Everyone's journey is unique.
