Last Monday, I went to pick up a friend of mine's six years old son to his school. Their neighbourhood is very nice and the way from school to home is short, safe, and no traffic at all. May be it is around a ten or fifteen minutes walk. However, after a long day at school, it can also be a long way for a kid. So, to make the way easier, the boy rides on his scooter.
Because it was the first Monday after the daylight saving time, the way back home was darker than before. In addition, the boy had a long day with a lot of extracurricular activities. Therefore, he was very tired. Getting back home, we went across a park and we crossed the only road. Finally, we got up to the hill to his house. When we were almost on the top of the hill, the boy stopped and told me that he was too tired to continue. Thinking of a good answer, I deeply breathed. Finally I told him.
- Do you know what? Going up to the hill is always a challenge. Sometimes, we feel that it is too much and we don't want to continue. But, when reaching up to the top, we look down, we feel really good ta have made it. We feel proud of ourselves to have achieved our goal.
-The boy looked back and said: And the views are very nice.
I was speechless about his comment.
How many times have I achieved goals and then I forgot to enjoy the views? It is not only about achievements, but it is also enjoying results. I greatly appreciated his comment. Then, the boy forgot that he was tired and we both continued the way back home with an excellent mood.
