Reaching out the hotel, we were astonished. There were a lot of people waiting outside to get in in a large line which really discouraged us. We asked what was going on and a nice butterfly said that the party had reached the full capacity to enter. Security guards didn’t let more people come in. We waited for a while, but the line didn’t move. Tired of waiting, we decided to leave and go to somewhere else.
When turning right to the corner at the other side of the hotel, one of our friends said:
When turning right to the corner at the other side of the hotel, one of our friends said:
- Why don’t we try to get in through the parking garage back door?
- How come? I said. We cannot do it. We are not guests.
- The parking cars guys will prevent us to come in, another friend said.
- Follow me, Mary stated with confidence. Walk like we know where we are going to.
While looking straight ahead, hands in her pockets, and walking confident, Mary was the first one to get down to the parking garage. Following her, we all got in. I have to be honest, I was the last one on following her. Shame pulled me back really hard. But, I did it.
Security guards at the parking garage didn’t stopped us. In fact, they said nothing and we easily reached the hotel elevator door. We pressed the button to the lobby and after two minutes we got into the hall. When the door of the elevator was opened, we surprisedly were in the middle of the party.
That Halloween party taught me a very important life lesson. There are always ingenious ways to overcome obstacles and reach our goals. When difficulties show up, the easiest way is to give up. However, the key to succeed is keep going and don’t give up; no matter what door we need to open to get there. Sometimes, main doors might not be opened for us. Then, we can try to sneak in through the back door.
The party was the best Halloween party ever; we had a really great time. The back door lesson remains still in my memory.
