Eric opened the main door of his new house with a big smile. My eyes were wide open.
- What a beautiful house¡ I said.
- Yes, we've been very lucky, he answered.
- How did you find out this amazing house? I asked interested. And this is Eric's story:
- When we came back from Africa, we started looking for a house to buy and settle down in this city. I came over to different neighbourhoods and I found this one. I loved it from the beginning! First of all, my wife can walk to work. Second, it is pretty close to the public transportation and has good schools. We can just go to work, school and shopping by walking. Third, houses in the neighbourhood are exactly what we were looking for: residential houses instead of condominiums, big spaces, and a large back yards. Then, I did a research to find out houses around the neighbourhood with the sort of superficie I was interested on because of a reasonable mortgage for us. There were a bunch of them. So, I sent a letter to the owners and explained to them that we were interested in buying a house in their neighbourhood. Just two owners answered me and we came up starting negotiations with one of them.
- How long were you negotiating? I asked excited.
- More than eight months. My wife told me several times that it would be better to give up because it was a waste of time.
- And, you did't, I said.
- I was being persistent. Finally, we set up an agreement and we hired lawyers to prepare documents. He responded.
- We have the house of our dreams¡ Eric's wife said.
- I beg you do, it is unbelievable! I told them.
Furthermore, this story of perseverance to make their dream to come true makes it even better, don't you think so?
