IT IS NEVER TOO LATE FOR LOVE

Fifteen years ago a friend of my family got married. This friend was a good man in his sixties, hardworking, and homey. This is a pretty uncommon love story because the lovers were not young and for him it was his first marriage. However, I love this love story because it is a great lesson of setting goals in personal relationships.
     When this man turned sixty, he told us that he had a girlfriend. I was really surprised because I had never seen this man with any woman before. He was a single man who lived with his mother and his life was very quiet. A few months later, my father asked him about his relationship and he said that they broke up. Smiling, he said that he already had another girlfriend. This woman was a very respectable widow from his hometown with two children.     
     A few months later, they got married. It was a small ceremony in a Catholic Church with family and close friends. He decided to get retired before the retirement age and she continued working on her own store. Right now, they have been almost fifteen years together and they already have two grandchildren.
    This man met a good woman when they were both seniors. I believe that it is never too late for love. Although it is unusual to start your first relationship in your sixties, this story proves that when you really want something, you can have it. Love is right there, you only need to be brave and go for it. Then, when you find it, care for this relationship as much as you can.
