SHARING GOALS AND ACHIEVEMENTS

A Presupposition of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) says that change and behavior are to be evauated in terms of context and Ecology. Goals are changes, too. Something positive changes when we achieve our goals. Therefore, setting a goal, we need to ask ourselves: is our goal good for ourselves, others, and the planet? A powerful image that made me think about this Presupposition of NLP is the post that I recently read on Facebook and many other social media networks: some African children holding hands together reaching out to get a bag full of candies.
The story might be either true or a nice metaphor and it says: "An anthropologist suggested a joke for children in Africa: A very fancy bag filled with candies was left behind a tree. Then, the anthropologist told children to run for it and the winner would have the gift. When he said "ready, go" all children hold their hands together and run toward the bag. Reaching the bag, they happily shared all the candies. The anthropologist was amazed at the children behavior and the children explained to him: "Ubuntu, friend. How come one of us can be happy if everyone else is sad?" The anthropologist realized the essence of the children attitude. Instead of competition, there was cooperation. In fact, ubuntu means "I am who I am, because we all are!"
The image of African children running for candies all together is really powerful. Their goal is absolutely measured in terms of Ecology; for sure it is good for one of them, for others, and for the planet.
Cooperation on moving towards a goal with someone else and sharing results is really ecological, enjoyable, and grateful.
Ubuntu, my friends!
