I realized that during my parents' generation, goal meaning didn’t exist. Writing about goals and achievements, I wanted to know at least one single goal that my parents had achieved in their whole lives. Their answers really surprised me. First of all, it was difficult for them to understand GOAL meaning. Therefore, it was also difficult to remember an ACHIEVEMENT. Second, I thought that their responses were a sort of weird. Finally, I understood that my parents are from an older generation and their culture is different from mine. How adorable they are!
I started asking my mom and she shrugged and told me:
"May be it was to get married."
Later, I asked my father and he gave me a response the day after and said: "I already know it. I wanted to have four seats at the FC Barcelona stadium and finally I could have them."
My father's goal was a sort of promise to himself. Being a Football Club Barcelona fan is part of our culture. One Sunday afternoon in the seventies, my father went to the FC Barcelona stadium to watch a match. He had bought four tickets for all the family members. The joy of being in the Camp Nou with the whole family was incredible. However, someone told us to get up and leave the seats and go somewhere else because those seats were not ours. It was apparently mistake. My father felt ashamed and he swore by himself that one day he would own four seats at the FC Barcelona Stadium and nobody will have to tell him to get up and leave his seat any more.
My father started renting two seats and he bought them a few years later. many years after, the FCB made its stadium bigger and more profitable. So, my father could buy two more seats. His promise was fulfilled. His goal was achieved. His dream came true. Words change; satisfaction and joy meaning don't change so much.
My father was persistent, patient and alert for opportunities. Our family and even my own friends have been able to enjoy great moments with Barcelona FC at the Camp Nou stadium. My father made it possible. I deeply appreciate his commitment and generosity. Thank you very much for your achievement, daddy. Thank you for your generosity, as well.
