MEANING OF LIFE

After the Spanish Civil War, my grandfather had to flee to the camp de concentration d’Argelès-sur-Mer for Spanish Republican refugees in France. As many other refugees, my grandfather had typhus; but he survived and returned home. Getting back home with his family was his meaning of life. 

UNA RAZÓN PARA VIVIR

Después de la Guerra Civil Española, mi abuelo estuvo en el campo de concentración de Argelės, en el sur de Francia. Pese a enfermar de tifus, fue uno de los supervivientes que volvió a casa con su familia. Su razón para vivir y su gran fortaleza interior hicieron posible su objetivo.

YOUR INNER LIGHT

Yesterday, I received an email from a good friend who told  me that she liked my Christmas Fairy Tale very much. Her nice, warm words made me cry. Her positive energy is crossing borders. Now, my friend is working in a pharmaceutical industry in Berlin. Her dream came true because of her hard work, determination, and flexibility.

TU LUZ INTERIOR

Ayer recibí un correo electrónico de una buena amiga para decirme que mi cuento de Navidad le había gustado mucho. ¡Su mensaje me llegó al corazón! Sus cálidas palabras transmitían una energía positiva que traspasaba fronteras. Ahora mi amiga está trabajando en una industria farmacéutica, en Berlín. Un sueño hecho realidad con el que llegó con determinación, trabajo y flexibilidad.

MIDDLE-AGED ENTREPRENEURS

Yesterday, my good friend Robert invited me to have lunch with a very peculiar group. These people or their spouses are Veterans, most of them middle-aged, and entrepreneurs. 

The fact that they were in the Army gives them identity as individuals and as a group. They love their country; there is a brotherhood among them; and they want to succeed. The group is called Veterans Business Owners Initiative (VBOI). Their theme is "The quality that make a good warrior also make a good entrepreneur".

EMPRENDORES DE MEDIANA EDAD

Ayer mi buen amigo Robert me invitó a comer con un grupo de gente con unas características muy peculiares. Estas personas o sus cónyuges han estado en la armada americana, son de mediana edad y son emprendedores. 
El hecho de haber pertenecido a la armada americana da a esta gente una identidad como personas y como grupo. El amor a la patria, el amor al prójimo y la identidad de grupo son tan fuertes que han dejado una huella en su carácter. 

PROSPERITY IN BUSINESS

This week, I was talking with a friend of mine. Seven years ago, my friend and his wife started a nice and innovative project on Internet. Right now, due to the fact that his business is going so well, he is planning to expand twice of the size of the offices.
One day around six years ago, my friend, his wife, and I were having lunch at their house and the conversation was about the new project. I remember a piece of the conversation:

• Our business is not going so well, she said
• It is not going so bad, he instantly replied

VISUALIZAR UN FUTURO PROSPERO

Esta semana hablaba con un amigo cuyo negocio va viento en popa y está proyectando ampliar el espacio de su estudio porque ya tiene mucha gente trabajando para él. Recuerdo que cuando él y su mujer empezaron este proyecto seis o siete años atrás aproximadamente, era un proyecto bonito e innovador. Un día me invitaron a comer y en la conversación salió el tema del proyecto que tenían entre manos,

• No creas que el negocio va tan bien, dijo mujer
• No va tan mal, respondió él instantáneamente
